Flex-Fly Slot

The two sides of your body move independently. Your saddle should move with them. The slot is the most important part of our suspended leather design. The specific shape of our patented slot's inverted rear wings allows the saddle to move with you. We call it Flex-Fly. It reduces perineal pressure, sit bone pain, and saddle sores. Allowing the leather to move under your sit bones is what makes our saddles so comfortable. This is the only functional slot in the industry. And it’s patented so nobody else can do it.

Premium American Leather

Nobody makes leather saddles the way we do. Traditionally, leather saddles are soaked in water, cold-molded at room temperature to the proper shape, and then baked in an oven. This style of saddle making produces a very hard leather top that can take years to break in. Our saddles are hot-molded dry. No water. This produces a much more pliable leather top that conforms more quickly to your unique shape. 

Laminate Layers

Laminates are pieces of leather glued to the underside of the saddle to support the top WaterShed leather. X Series has a thicker laminate and T Series has thinner laminate. Did we mention the break in period? There isn't one. Your saddle will feel great starting on day one.

4130 Chromoly Rails

Rails that won't quit give you an incredible amount of adjustability to help attain maximum comfort. Chromoly steel makes the saddle's skeleton stronger than ever.

Hex Key Tension Bolt

We designed our nose to be easy to adjust. A standard allen key is all you need to add tension to the leather.

    Full Grain American Leather

    WaterShed

    Part of Selle Anatomica's heritage of instantly comfortable leather saddles is our pioneering Full Grain American leather. Full Grain means it is the best. WaterShed leather is the gold standard of leather saddles for cyclists who want a comfortable ride right out of the box and now all of our leather is WaterShed. The chromium preservative left over from the tanning process acts as a hydrophobic repellent that also has the added benefit of softening the leather allowing it to easily mold to your shape. The Top Grain TruLeather laminate on the underside of WaterShed saddles is factory treated with Saddle Sauce for added protection. WaterShed saddles have a matte finish compared to the gloss of TruLeather.

              X Series

      X Series saddles have a thicker laminate to help reduce stretching in riders from 130 - 250 pounds and those who ride more than 100 miles/week. The rivets that attach the leather to the C-form pass through the laminates which adds strength and rigidity.

       

      T Series

      The T Series laminate is slightly thinner and is designed for the most petite riders, typically under 130 pounds. The rivets that attach the leather to the C-form pass through the laminate which adds strength and rigidity.

       

      • All of our saddles are molded in the same machine so they all have the same dimensions. Sometimes returning customers will ask why their new saddle is so different from their old one. As you tension the leather, the bolt that pulls the leather forward gets longer, making the saddle longer. Since no two saddles are alike, the dimensions below are approximate.
