Frame 2 saddles are back! The latest design of our Frame 2 bracket is stronger than ever and built to go the distance with you. A limited number of new-and-improved R2 saddles are set to arrive at our warehouse in September 2026, and we’re now accepting pre-orders!

Order now to be one of the first to ride our new R2. Pay today to secure your saddle — orders will begin shipping in late September in the order they were received. Hurry! Supplies are limited until our full order arrives in late fall.

For more information about the pre-order, please see the full FAQ below.

The R2 pairs our weatherproof rubber saddle top with the lighter, stronger, and fully modular Frame 2 platform. It is an affordable, low-maintenance option built for mountain biking, wet-weather touring, commuting, and year-round riding in unpredictable conditions.

Unlike a conventional rubber saddle, the R2 features a tensionable vulcanized EPDM rubber top — an industry-first design that lets riders adjust the saddle’s support over time. The patented Flex-Fly Slot moves with your body as you ride, helping relieve perineal pressure, sit bone pain, and saddle sores. Plus, the R2 shaves roughly 100 grams off the R1.

As part of our R series, the biggest difference between the R2 and the R1 is its modular Frame 2 construction. The user-serviceable stainless steel frame uses Chicago screws, allowing you to replace the rubber top, install a different compatible saddle top, or upgrade to optional carbon fiber rails. Rather than replacing the entire saddle, you can repair or customize individual components as your needs change.

Weatherproof, adaptable, and designed for cyclists of any weight, the R2 delivers lasting comfort without the care requirements of a leather saddle.

Pre-order FAQ

When will my saddle ship?

Orders are expected to begin shipping around Sept. 21, 2026, in the order they were received. After you place your order, you will be added to an email list for ongoing updates on Frame 2 order fulfillment.

Will I be charged immediately?

Yes, all Frame 2 preorders will be charged immediately and fulfilled as soon as inventory arrives. Your payment now ensures you receive a saddle from this first batch of inventory rather than waiting for our remaining brackets to arrive later in the fall.

Can I change or cancel my preorder?

Yes, you can modify or cancel your preorder any time before Sept. 20, 2026. Orders canceled before this date will receive a full refund.

What if the shipping date changes?

Our first limited-quantity shipment of frames is on track to ship to us in mid-September. However, since we’re waiting on these parts from our vendors, we can’t perfectly predict their arrival date until they’re in our warehouse. We will keep you up to date if there are any delays.

Can I expedite my shipping?

Yes, overnight shipping will still be available for pre-orders. But keep in mind that Frame 2 saddles will still ship in the order they were received. Expedited shipping just ensures your saddle gets to you from our warehouse overnight once it’s your turn.

Can I order other products with my preorder?

Yes, you are welcome to order additional products with your pre-order. If you order any saddles that are in stock, those will ship separately and sooner. Any Frame 2 saddle accessories you order will ship with your X2, H2, or R2 when frames arrive and we complete assembly in our warehouse.

Is preorder pricing different from the eventual in-stock price?

No. Frame 2 saddle pricing will not change between the pre-order and regular in-stock windows. The advantage of pre-ordering is that you’re guaranteed to receive a saddle from our first shipment of frames.

Are X2, H2, and R2 all shipping on the same timeline?

Yes, all three saddles will be available for preorder and ship in order based on when your made your purchase.

Is this a one-time restock, or will Frame 2 stay in regular rotation going forward?

Frame 2 saddles will remain in stock. However, if our initial pre-order supplies sell out, there may be an additional SOLD OUT period of up to one month before our remaining frames arrive.

Is this saddle covered by your comfort or warranty guarantee?

Yes, all new Selle Anatomica saddles are covered under our standard 30-Day Comfort + Fit Guarantee.

Is Frame 2 (X2/H2/R2) identical to the original run, or has anything changed?

Our new-and-improved Frame 2 rear bracket is even stronger than before, built to support even the most demanding riding conditions. This is designed to avoid the (very infrequent) issues we had with the original Frame 1 bracket breaking.

I have an old Frame 2 bracket that broke. Can you replace it from your new Frame 2 inventory?

No, the new-and-improved Frame 2 bracket is not compatible with older Frame 2 leather or rubber tops. We recommend investing in a new X2, H2, or R2 saddle to replace the full assembly. Reach out to our customer support team (support@selleanatomica.com) with any questions or concerns. Note that other replacement parts (tension bolt, Chicago screws, rails) will fit either version.

Why was Frame 2 out of stock for so long?

We wanted to be sure that our upgraded frame met our strict standards for durability and reliability. This required several rounds of prototyping and testing, and then it took time to reach an agreement with the right supplier. The entire process took longer than anticipated, and we’re grateful for your patience. We’re as excited as you are to have Frame 2 saddles back in stock.

Is the leather for the new X2 and H2 and the rubber for the R2 the same as before?

Yes, no changes have been made to the saddle skins, only the frame.

I owned an R2 before and I'm buying a replacement — will the new one match closely enough that I won't notice a difference in ride feel?

Yes, the new saddle should feel exactly the same as your old one did out of the box.

I owned an R2 before — should I stick with the same model, or has the recommendation changed?

Assuming you were happy with your previous version, stick with the same model you had before. Aside from the stronger rear bracket, all other specs remain the same with the new versions. If you’re looking to make a change, see our saddle comparison guide for more information.
